Patriotic Program

Last evening all of the third grades in Rosa school put on a patriotic program. The kids were either red, white, or blue. Here you see Rosa in her red shirt.

All of the children had speaking parts. Rosa's was an introduction of herself in Russian and in English. She also said "I came to America from Kazakhstan to be with my new family." She also sang a number of songs with the rest of the third graders.

Rosa seems to find enjoyment through cleaning and rearranging rooms. She often gets Megan to help her clean bathrooms or rearrange drawers. It's not like we're asking her to do that. In fact, since it's so hard to find anything in the drawers after she's finished, we wish she wouldn't. She continues to enjoy playing card and board games and has learned to play some pretty complex games.

Rosa is slowly warming up to different foods. She likes roast beef and chicken. But she stays away from things that are spicy. In fact, she doesn't even like pizza because she thinks the sauce is too spicy.

Her English is improving. She is getting better at using "I" rather than "me." Her school continues to provide individual attention to her in both Math and English. Her teacher has a Russian-speaking visitor come in every couple of weeks to visit with her in Russian as well.

She is aware that her birthday is coming up in April and is already starting to give us party ideas. Posted by Picasa
