Well, it took a bit longer than our agency thought it would, but our official Letter of Invitation to Kazakhstan arrived this morning. Right now, our agency is planning on us arriving to Kazakhstan sometime between October 13-15. I have enough airline miles for both Jo Ann and me to fly for free, so once we know the correct date to arrive, I'll work on getting a flight arranged.

We have a lot of things left to do before we are ready to travel.

We are starting this blog to keep our family and friends up to date on the developments of our international adoption. We are adopting an older girl from Kazakhstan. Our adoption agency has asked that we do not divulge our future daughter's name or city, nor that we post her picture until the adoption has been finalized in a Kazakhstan court.

After months of preparing paperwork and then waiting on processing, it appears that we might finally be leaving for Kazakhstan soon. We heard las week from our adoption agency (Focus on Children) that our dossier has been accepted at the Department of Education where our future daughter lives, and that they expect a Letter of Invitation to arrive sometime this week. We'll be getting passport pictures for our Kazakhstan visa application forms tomorrow, along with getting some other documents notarized. We'll then have to take them up to Salt Lake City to be apostilled at the capitol.

We'll also begin packing this week. Over the last few months, we've been slowly buying items we know we will need for the trip. These items are currently in an unorganized pile in one of the bedrooms, so it will be good to actually see how all of this is going to fit.
